Darren DeMent 30th Anniversary Musical Celebration

Associate Pastor Darren DeMent will be honored on Sunday, Aug. 2, for his 30th anniversary of ministry at Wilshire. He will be recognized in worship, and then everyone is invited back at 5 p.m. for a musical celebration in the Sanctuary. 

Themed “Songs From the Basement,” the singalong event will feature Darren and others leading songs beloved by generations of Wilshire youth. This body of songs has become familiar to the wider church through their use in worship in recent years.

Darren said, “Whether you know the songs not, I think it’s going to be good because we’re putting some really good singers and musicians on stage. If you’ve been to one of our Songwriter Vespers, it’ll be a similar cast of characters.”

A reception will follow the evening event in James Gallery.

Darren came to Wilshire as a student ministry intern in 1996, was named minister to students in 1999 and became associate pastor in 2020.
