Founded in 1951, Wilshire is a vibrant and flourishing intergenerational community. We are justice-oriented and inclusive. At Wilshire, everyone is welcome and valued—not for what they might contribute, but for who they are.

We’re located between the Lakewood and Lake Highlands neighborhoods of Dallas, with easy access from East Dallas, the Park Cities and points all over the Metroplex.

Statement of inclusion

As a family of faith, Wilshire wholeheartedly affirms the capacity of “every body” to bear witness to God’s expansively compassionate stance toward God’s creation. Likewise, we commit to cultivating a community in which the vulnerable feel safe, the ignored find connection and the marginalized are reminded of their God-given agency and dignity. At Wilshire, we take “the priesthood of all believers” seriously. This means that every body is afforded equitable opportunity to grow, learn, serve and lead—regardless of their racial, cultural or religious background; family configuration and structure; age; sexual orientation; gender identity; disability; educational history; economic background; and political perspective.

Wilshire is a member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists.

A CBF church

Wilshire’s primary partner in global missions work is the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, a network of churches that unites for the purpose of missions and fellowship. We were a founding congregation of CBF.
