This Sunday, June 6, we will offer Sunday morning activities in our building for the first time since March 8, 2020. Our plans and protocols have been updated in accordance with the latest guidelines from the CDC.

No registration or capacity limits.
Social distancing not required.
Services and classes will last 45 minutes.
Childcare provided for preschoolers during worship, both services.
The 11 a.m. service will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel and our website.

What about masks?
Unvaccinated people are strongly encouraged to wear masks in the building. Masks are required for children who are not yet vaccine-eligible and those who are not fully vaccinated.
For fully vaccinated people, masking is not required during worship or Sunday School, but is encouraged when moving between spaces.

For more details about what to expect, see our website reopening page, which has the latest information.

Entry Door Changes
All doors on the back side of the church along Springside Lane will be locked at all times, including Sundays. The door nearest Springside on the north side of the building (the door that opens into a stairwell) will also be locked. This change was recommended by a safety task force as a way to enhance security, especially in areas frequented by our children and youth. Street parking on Springside will still be available.

Office Hours
Sundays: The church office will be open Sundays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday School boxes will be available in the hall near the main office for those wishing to pick them up prior to 9:30.
Weekdays: Beginning Monday, the church office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Unless a major event such as Midweek Bible Study is going on, weekday visitors must enter through the doors by the main office.

Online Sunday School
Discovery Class will augment its in-person meeting with a live video feed in its public Facebook group at 10 a.m. starting June 13. Search Facebook for “Wilshire Discovery Class” to find the group. Watch lessons as a non-group member or request to join in order to interact through comments. Contact Mark Wingfield with questions.

Building Improvements
If you haven’t been to the building in a while, you may notice a few differences. Facilities Manager Dale Pride and his staff took full advantage of the pandemic shutdown to make several improvements:

  • The Sanctuary has new carpet. New pew cushions are on the way, and repairs are being made to the shutters.
  • Restrooms now have touch-free toilets and faucets.
  • A project is underway to enlarge and update the restrooms near the library.
  • The Prayer Room was moved to 1100B near McIver Chapel. In the process, long covered stained glass windows were exposed.
  • The Nursing Mothers Room was moved to the secure area inside the preschool hall.
  • Around 200 Solar panels were installed on the roof last summer.
  • LED lighting has been installed throughout most of the facility.
