I Am Wilshire: Paul Latham

by | Nov 24, 2021 | I Am Wilshire

I Am Wilshire – Paul Latham.

Hometown: I was born in Rolla, Missouri. My family moved to Richardson when I was 5.
Education: BS in Computer Science
Profession: Controller for Sewell Automotive Companies
Present city: Richardson

Tell us about your family. I’ve been married to Patty for 33 years. We have two adult daughters. Katy is married to Jared Farber and works at Sewell. Amelia is single and finishing her master’s degree in accounting at TWU.

Tell us about your work. I have been at Sewell for 31 years in various positions. I am currently a controller in our consolidated accounting office. I am retiring at the end of January 2022.

What are your favorite hobbies? I like to cook and read.

Where is your favorite place to travel? I love traveling of all kinds. Patty and I like to rent cabins at various state or national parks. We also like cruising, and my family loves going to Disney World.

What brought you to Wilshire and when? Patty and I came to Wilshire in 2017. We love the mission focus here. I’ve been blessed throughout my life, and Wilshire provides many opportunities to give back in truly meaningful ways.

Where are you engaged in Wilshire? I teach in rotation in Cord of Three. I serve on the Risk Management and Finance committees, and Patty and I are the host couple for Marriage Connections.

Tell us about your faith journey. I was raised in the Disciples of Christ denomination. I never would have thought I would feel comfortable in a Baptist church, but Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Disciples of Christ are very similar theologically. I have always felt very lucky and blessed and I believe that God wants me to respond to these blessings. Wilshire provides opportunities for that response.

What’s something interesting most people wouldn’t know about you? I was adopted into a wonderful family. That was the first of many blessings in my life.

What adjectives describe you? I love to learn and can be stubborn when I know I am right. This causes problems when I am wrong.
