Tell us about your family.
I am single, but surround myself with close friends from my Wilshire family.

How about your work or volunteer life?
I taught high school biology for 14 years and spent three years at the Perot Museum providing teachers with professional learning. As part of my work, I enjoy studying both pedagogy and andragogy.

What are your favorite hobbies?
All of the women in my family are accomplished seamstresses or quilters, so I attempt to carry on that tradition. I also enjoy growing African violets and reading.

What is your favorite place to travel?
I especially love Alaska and Colorado! I grew up going to Small Sunday School Week at Glorieta every summer, so the mountains are where I feel closest to God.

What brought you to Wilshire and when?
I grew up in moderate Baptist and CBF churches. When I moved to Dallas for work in 2017, I already had my mind made up that Wilshire was the church for me. I visited one Sunday and joined the next!

Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
You can usually find me in the music wing, either singing in Sanctuary Choir or Nova, playing handbells in Carillon Ringers, or helping with Young Musicians. I attend Odyssey Class and serve on the Worship Guild and the Deacon Nominating Committee.

What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
COVID derailed my career path, so I’m in a period of seeking, waiting and listening. I’m challenging myself to dive deeper into Scripture and work on being comfortable in walking by faith, not by sight. I am a planner and organizer, so I’m experiencing my own uncomfortable wilderness journey.

Tell us about your faith journey.
I am blessed to have wonderful, loving parents who modeled living out Jesus’ teachings. Ever the good Baptist girl and preacher’s kid, I went to GA camp at Mt. Lebanon, where I made my profession of faith. I have always been interested in learning about other sects of Christianity and religions, even attending the Church of England for a year while living in England, but I remain firmly planted in my Baptist roots.

What’s something interesting most people wouldn’t know about you?
I collect Disney trading pins and have over 1,000. Figment is my favorite Disney character!
