Tell us about your family.
Kile and I have been married for 31 years. We have three grown kids — Chelsea and Ali live in New York City and Blake is in physical therapy school in Philadelphia. Since May, we’ve had the privilege to call MuLar Hso part of our family too. MuLar was a children’s ministry intern at Wilshire last summer.
How about your work or volunteer life?
I am currently substitute teaching at Good Shepherd. Most of my volunteer hours are spent at Wilshire.
Favorite hobbies?
Reading, travel, crafts, cooking
What are your favorite places to travel?
Italy, Colorado and wherever my kids are.
What brought you to Wilshire and when?
We moved to Dallas in 1997 with two small children. We loved the welcoming environment of the preschool hallway, and we really liked the sermons and the people we met at Wilshire.
Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
I’ve taught preschool Sunday School for many years. I am rolling back onto active deacon service and will be on the Christian Advocacy Committee. One of my favorite volunteer jobs is as one of the Mentor Moms for Wilshire’s MOPS group.
What has surprised you most about Wilshire?
Our ability to continuously change and grow and embrace new ideas while holding onto precious traditions.
What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
I feel like fall 2023 was a time of renewal for me and a reminder that the best way to serve God is to love other people.
Tell us about your faith journey.
I grew up going to church, but my relationship to God got much more important to me when I became a mom. The people of Wilshire have been integral to the growth of my faith, and Kile and I always say this church helped us raise our kids.
What’s something interesting most people would not know about you?
I saw Elvis in concert when I was about 7.
What adjectives best describe you?
Loyal, caring, opinionated, creative.
