Tell us about your family.
I am married to R.G. Huff, a retired minister of music and currently an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University. I am a BOY mom and Grandmommy, with two sons and four grandsons.
How about your work or volunteer life?
I recently retired from Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas as the legal assistant to the chief legal officer and worked for trial lawyers previously. R.G. and I volunteer with Waxahachie Care, delivering groceries and food to the homebound in need in Waxahachie.
Favorite hobbies?
I love to read, including the Dallas Morning News cover to cover, and participate in a monthly book club. We attend as many of our grandsons’ events as we can, and we enjoy travel near and far.
What are your favorite places to travel?
We have traveled to Italy, France, Ireland and Scotland, Switzerland and Germany and extensively throughout the United States. My favorite is Italy, with Ireland and Scotland a close second. For weekend getaways to relax and read, we head toward Galveston, San Antonio or the Hill Country.
What brought you to Wilshire and when?
We joined Wilshire in 2020 during the pandemic. We were looking for a new church and began watching the worship service from home. We were moved each week by the sincere nature of every prayer, reading, musical offering and sermon that confirmed that we were experiencing something we wanted to be a part of.
Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
I sing in Sanctuary Choir, currently serving as its president, and I’m a substitute handbell ringer.
Tell us about your faith journey.
I was raised in a very narrow denomination. I understood even as an older child that there had to be more than what I was experiencing, and I found that in my local Baptist church in my 20s. The musical Celebrate Life became my touchstone to truly know the nature of God. I had a faith crisis before coming to Wilshire, and as I told Timothy a few weeks ago, I am extremely grateful to be in this place at this time.
What adjectives best describe you?
Friendly, funny, great sense of humor. Dependable. I am a bit of a control freak and extremely organized. Approachable: “Do you like these shoes?,” “What is your favorite cake mix brand?,” “Can you help me find … ?” R.G. says someone will kidnap me one day.
