By Kelly Akins, Minister to Preschool
I met Harrison Litzell in Vancouver, Canada, at the Godly Play Gathering, and then again when a group of us traveled to Waco for a conference on children’s spirituality and neurodivergence in the church.
Harrison is a dynamic speaker and is extremely knowledgeable about several subjects: parenting, because he has two children of his own; children’s spiritual formation, because he has a theology background; and neurodivergence, because of extensive research and hands-on experiences.
Every time I hear him, I learn something new and come away with things to ponder. He gives practical tips on ways to deal with children and invites interaction in his presentations.
We have two opportunities to hear him, and you will not want to miss this, I promise!
On Saturday, Aug. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m., parents, grandparents or anyone who deals with children are invited to come to the home of Gail and Steve Brookshire for heavy hors d’oeuvres, fellowship and a time of conversation and learning with Harrison. Childcare will be provided, and registration is required.
On Sunday, Aug. 9, from noon to 2:30 p.m. in Community Hall, we will offer a time of training for our teachers. This event will be different from the Saturday session and is highly recommended for anyone who teaches children of any age. Lunch will be provided, childcare is available and registration is required.
Come join us for these exciting events! See more details and register at wilshirebc.org/events/litzell.
