Doug Haney to be honored April 30.
Make plans to be in worship on Sunday, April 30, as we celebrate Associate Pastor Doug Haney on his last day at Wilshire.
In January, Doug announced his plans to retire from full-time ministry. He and his wife, Lori, will soon be moving to the Charlotte, North Carolina, area. In retirement, Doug will focus on his work as executive director of Polyphony Music Resources, a nonprofit ministry network for church musicians.
Wilshire’s morning worship on April 30 will include a time of recognition and gifts for Doug, who came to Wilshire as minister of music in 2004. An informal reception will be held after worship in James Gallery.
That evening at 6:30, Doug will conduct Sanctuary Choir and orchestra in a concert that will also feature songwriter and recording artist Ken Medema. Themed Wrap Me in Song, the event will be a benefit for the Grief and Loss Center of North Texas. Music will include excerpts from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Howard Goodall’s requiem, Eternal Light. Admission is free. An offering will be received.
