Tell us about your family.
My husband, Weldon, and I have been friends for a decade, and blessed in marriage for six of those 10 years. We welcomed our first child, Betty Ann, on September 26, and we are absolutely loving being parents. Betty is the first grandchild on either side of the family and sure to be spoiled rotten. My parents live in Houston where I grew up, and my little sister lives in Nashville.

How about your work or volunteer life?
For many years I served various school districts as a middle school language arts teacher and as a teaching and learning coach. I absolutely loved working with my students and supporting teachers, but in January I chose to step away from public education to challenge myself in other arenas. I’m really enjoying my new role as a training specialist at Kirkland & Ellis because it has given me time to shift my focus towards life outside of work.

What brought you to Wilshire and when?
Weldon and I were looking for a church that supported a scholarly scriptural curiosity and would be a community to help us raise our daughter to seek after God. Great news: we found it! After many years of searching for a church community, we found a feeling of peace at Wilshire. We officially joined as members in March of this year.

Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
I am blessed to be a part of the Ithaka Class and am so thankful to have found such a welcoming group of people. I’m also excited to join MOPS this fall and connect with other Wilshire mamas!

What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
As a new mom, I am focusing on slowing down to invest in the people God has placed in my life. Giving time to invest in relationships has always been difficult for me, so I know that this is a season of life where I need to love on and appreciate the folks that are around me. The older I get the more I realize how important this is as a part of representing Christ here on earth.

What are your strengths?
I love personality matrices that help me learn about myself and others! I’m an 8 on the Enneagram, ESTJ on Meyers-Briggs and my top three CliftonStrengths are Strategic, Relator and Restorative.
