Tell us about your family.
I have one older and one younger brother. My younger brother has two children and four grandkids who I’m close to. They all live in the Austin area.
Tell us about your work or volunteer life.
I recently retired from work and will be looking for new volunteer opportunities. I’m happy to have the time now to devote to helping others and making a life away from work.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I love working around the house and in the yard. I have lots of home improvement projects on my to-do list.
Where is your favorite place to travel?
Seeing new places is fun, and the beauty of the Rocky Mountains is hard to beat. I hope to make it back to Europe soon to see France and Spain.
What brought you to Wilshire and when?
I joined in 1994. I was living in lower Greenville and loved George’s sermons and the singles Sunday School class from my first visit.
Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
I’m a greeter on Sunday mornings and have been on several committees. I was honored to be ordained as a deacon this year and have been a member of the Foundations of Faith Class for about 10 years.
What has surprised you most about Wilshire?
From the beginning I have been so happy to be part of an inclusive loving church with a heart for the community of faith.
What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
Guiding me through my retirement years and how to use my talents to make a difference to others.
Tell us about your faith journey.
I was raised in a traditional Southern Baptist small-town church. I asked God into my life at age 10. My mom was a big influence on our family and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Her faith was a great role model for how to live a life of service and dedication.
What’s something interesting most people wouldn’t know about you?
I was a page for the Texas State Senate for three years while I was in school in Austin. It was a very interesting place to be when the legislature is in session.
