A note from the Risk Management Committee

by | Aug 30, 2024 | Uncategorized

Last Sunday there was an incident at our church before and during the Sunday School hour. An individual entered the building and verbally accosted staff and members. Our security guards and staff engaged with the individual, who refused to leave. Dallas Police were called, and the person was arrested.

The incident was handled appropriately by our staff; however, it has naturally raised concerns and fears. The safety of our members, guests, staff and volunteers is of the utmost importance. Wilshire’s Risk Management Committee is tasked with ensuring appropriate procedures and systems are in place to address potentially harmful situations such as this.

The Committee has been working on a holistic plan to upgrade existing processes and technologies used for identifying, managing and communicating onsite risks. Details will be shared as the plan is finalized. Please know that the collective safety of our church family is critically important. If you have questions, concerns or need assistance, please reach out to our committee’s staff liaison, Geri McKenzie (gmckenzie@wilshirebc.org).
