Tell us about your family.
My kids are my pride and joy. My oldest, Samantha, is a doctor of physical therapy and lives in Virginia with her husband, Matt Stone, and two very cute grandkids, June and Emmitt. My son, Jeff, lives in Wichita, Kansas, with his wife, Paula, and two more beautiful grands, Logan and Adley. Jeff is an air traffic controller and a technical guru. Sarah teaches kindergarten at Spring Creek elementary in Richardson and was nominated as teacher of the year this year. My youngest, Jane, is the most like me: independent, stubborn and works hard in everything she does.

How about your work or volunteer life?
I do window cleaning. I really enjoy it because of the very interesting variety of clients I serve, and the physical work is kind of meditative. Helping with VBS last year was pure joy. I enjoyed working with Julie and the kids again this year. I also love volunteering in Friday Friends.

Any favorite hobbies?
I currently love to play disc golf and chess.

What brought you to Wilshire and when?
The volunteers at Wilshire were the perfect ambassadors for my faith journey. Helping people who are caring for a loved one with dementia in Friday Friends is the main reason I joined Wilshire last October.

Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
I’ve found a wonderful group with Whosoever Wilshire.

What has surprised you most about Wilshire?
I’m truly amazed at the diversity and love I see and feel at this church.

What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
I’ve dedicated a good portion of my life to reading and learning the Scriptures of the Bible. I still find joy reading and studying the Scriptures and related writings.

Tell us about your faith journey.
I started as a firstborn son of a Levite in October 1962. I was born into it but didn’t do much spiritually until my late teens. After learning about the Holy Spirit and believing Romans 10:9–10, I was born again and filled with the Holy Spirit.

What’s something interesting most people would not know about you?
People may have noticed me wearing a high-tech wearable defibrillator. I had a heart attack that fewer than 10% survive. I’m hoping to avoid surgery but may have to go that route. Either way, God obviously still has some things for me to do since I’m already a living miracle.
