Now is the time to join Stephen Ministry
God gives spiritual gifts to each of us, and we pass them along by using them to serve others. If you’re seeking a new way to use your gifts for caring ministry, Stephen Ministry may be just what you’ve been looking for!
Stephen Ministers bring distinctively Christian care to those in need. They express Christ’s care for others by listening and comforting, calling on their training and employing the tools of faith, to help people who are experiencing grief, illness, job loss, divorce, relocation and other life difficulties.
Stephen Ministers commit to at least two years of service, which includes their initial 18 weeks of training, twice-monthly meetings with other Stephen Ministers for continuing education and regular supervision, and when matched, weekly meetings with their care receivers. Many of our Stephen Ministers enjoy their ministry so much that they choose to serve beyond the two years — some for more than a decade.
If you think this is a ministry God is calling you to, now is the time to join. Being a Stephen Minister may be one of the most fulfilling and transformative ministries you will ever be part of. You will grow spiritually and gain skills to use not only in your caring ministry but also in your everyday relationships with family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
