Tell us about your family.
My husband, Thomas, is an assistant principal in Fort Worth. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves working on old cars, but most importantly he is the kindest, most patient human I know. We are both close to our siblings and large chosen family, and we are the COOLEST aunt and uncle ever. My parents, Scott and Jeanne Spreier, are members here at Wilshire.

Any favorite hobbies?
Anything that involves being outside or being with family or friends. I love to read, although currently it’s a lot of audiobooks while driving.

What are your favorite places to travel?
Big Bend is my favorite location to travel to, but really I love being anywhere my people are. San Antonio is currently high on my favorites list because that’s where my nieces and nephew live.

What brought you to Wilshire and when?
We visited Wilshire when I was 5 years old, and other than a very brief time away right after high school, I have been here ever since!

Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
I spend most of my time with our AMAZING youth! They are the absolute best, and I have complete confidence they are going to make the world a better place. I am a new deacon and stay involved in the mission and advocacy space as I am able — some with Wilshire, but some with work at American Heart Association.

What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
Listen, every time I try to pinpoint what God is up to in my life, God takes a hard left turn and I’m basically thrown out the window trying to catch up. So, while I can see God’s presence, I’m not going to pretend I have any idea what God is actually up to. I think my entire faith experience at this point in my life can be summed up by the Merton Prayer — if you don’t know it, Google it. I find it incredibly reassuring and hopeful.

Something interesting most people would not know about you?
I’m an open book — either I will tell you anything or my face says everything, so I have no secrets. But a fun fact is that I teach yoga twice a week at a retirement home in Fort Worth.
