Tell us about your family.
I have been married to Brian for 24 years, and we have a daughter, Amory, who is a senior at Lake Highlands High School.
How about your work or volunteer life?
I am a nurse practitioner at Liver Consultants of Texas at Baylor downtown. I enjoy volunteering with Amory at the Wilkinson Center and Feed My Starving Children.
Favorite hobbies?
Reading, crossword puzzles, a little crafting and tap dancing.
What are your favorite places to travel?
Brian and I traveled abroad once a year until the pandemic hit in 2020. We have tried to make up for those two lost years by going abroad three times in 2022 and 2023. We stick mostly to Europe, but went to Patagonia in Chile and Argentina in January. Our all-time favorite place so far is Iceland, with Norway a close second.
What brought you to Wilshire and when?
We started attending Wilshire in 2001 when we were trying to find a church home. We did not officially join until I was ready for baptism by immersion (a requirement at the time) in 2004.
Where are you engaged at Wilshire?
Seekers Sunday School, the WOW Tuesday Evening Book Club (I am seeing how many books I can read in a year, and I am currently on #30) & other WOW events. I previously served on the Committee on Committees and the Preschool Education Committee.
What has surprised you most about Wilshire?
The significant decades-long relationships we have made and the amazing support of the entire church community. Also, church leadership is focused on teaching, learning and growing and does not encourage blind followers.
What do you think God is up to in your life right now?
I believe I am living God’s ministry through my work as a nurse practitioner, and I feel so fortunate to have such an opportunity daily. I have always been able to see God in nature. I take a walk every morning (our pup, Chia, is my accountability partner), and l love feeling God’s presence while taking in the sunrise.
Tell us about your faith journey.
I grew up Catholic and attended Catholic school through 10th grade. I started attending another Dallas Baptist church in 1996 out of a desire for fellowship with like-minded people my age. I met Brian there, and we married in 1999.
What adjectives best describe you?
Loyal, empathetic, thoughtful.
