Souper Bowl of Caring

This year’s Souper Bowl of Caring provides us the opportunity to practice care and solidarity with our neighbors by supporting grassroots partners involved in immigration court observation, as well as clergy support at the Dallas ICE field office. These ministries rely on shared generosity to provide office supplies, snacks, books and stickers for children and mutual aid for families whose loved ones have been detained.

On Sunday, Feb. 8, we’ll gather in Community Hall at noon for soup and all the fixings. As always, we invite you to donate the amount you’d spend eating lunch out.

Can’t make it in person? Use this link to donate to the cause:

You can also use this Amazon wishlist to provide needed items for our grassroots partners:

These wishlist items support our partners in assembling whistle kits with Know Your Rights cards for ICE watch volunteers to share at immigration court. Children’s books and activities help families at court and at the ICE field office respite center, offering support as children wait for long periods and process loss and big feelings. Blankets provide comfort and warmth as families pause in the respite center tent to complete important paperwork. VISA, Albertson’s and Uber gift cards assist families with groceries, gas and transportation, especially those traveling long distances or returning home after a partner’s detention.

During lunch on Feb. 8, we’ll hear firsthand about how Wilshire is working alongside these partners in faithful presence.
