Guns to Gardens firearm disposal event

Wilshire is co-hosting a Guns to Gardens firearm disposal event on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Royal Lane Baptist Church. This is a chance for anyone with unwanted firearms to anonymously and safely dispose of them. The guns will be disabled and later forged into garden tools, art and jewelry that the participant will receive. Guns to Gardens is a national movement working to reduce gun violence, and Wilshire helped start a local chapter last year.

— Weapon donation is anonymous.
— Bring your unloaded gun in trunk or rear of vehicle. No ammunition will be accepted.
— Guns will be inspected by safety officer and then disabled with a chop saw.
— Pieces will be forged into tools, art jewelry at a later date.

Supported by faith groups concerned about gun violence. In cooperation with RAWtools and Presbyterian Faith Fellowship. Churches include Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, NorthPark Presbyterian, Wilshire, Royal Lane Baptist, St. Luke UMC, Temple Shalom, Faith United Presbyterian.
