Wilshire facilities staffer Daniel Latin recently marked his 20-year anniversary of working at the church. He will be recognized at the end of worship on Sunday, June 8.

“I love what I do and the people in the church,” Daniel said. “I love the atmosphere, the sense of peace and harmony and the positive energy from the people here.”

As part of the facilities staff, Daniel is responsible for ensuring event readiness, making sure spaces are clean and set up according to specifications. Over the years, he has witnessed many changes at Wilshire — building renovations, updated workflows and staff turnover. He also noted the church’s growth in inclusion. “This is a special place,” he said, “and it feels even more meaningful because it’s the house of God.”

Maricela Escutia, facilities staff manager, has worked with Daniel for the entirety of his time at Wilshire. “Daniel has consistently demonstrated an exceptional work ethic, approaching each task with focus, determination, and a strong sense of responsibility,” Maricela said. “Whether working independently or as part of our team, you can always count on him to exceed expectations. He is punctual, reliable, and takes pride in doing things right, no matter how big or small the job is. His commitment to quality, efficiency and integrity has earned him the respect and trust of his colleagues and supervisors alike.”

Daniel began working at Wilshire on May 23, 2005. He recalls, “My wife, Martha, and Maricela are friends. Martha was working as a teacher for ECLC, and Maricela mentioned to her that a part-time security job was available at Wilshire. Maricela advocated for me to get the job. She is a genuinely good person with a heart for helping people.”

A native of El Salvador, Daniel has been married to Martha for over 30 years, and they are the parents of three children and two dogs, Rocko and Luna. When he’s not at work, Daniel enjoys exercising and spending time with family.
