Rising Hope screening and Q&A

Wilshire members and guests are invited to the Angelika Film Center for a special screening of the documentary Rising Hope on Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. The film will be followed by a Q&A with director Theo Avgerinos and Jason Coker, president of Together for Hope, a nonprofit agency featured in the film. Jason is a former minister of missions at Wilshire.

Rising Hope (risinghopefilm.com) tells the story of a Mississippi Delta community where hope survives despite generational poverty. The Oxford Film Festival called it an “elegant tapestry of human experience” and “a moving exploration of what can be from the people who believe it will be.” The film has won awards at festivals in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Mississippi.

Admission is donation-based, with a suggested donation of $10. Space is limited.
