Vespers Worship

“Beginning Again” is the theme for a Vespers service to be led by Wilshire’s pastoral residents as part of Wednesday Night Live on Aug. 28. The reflective time of worship, which will include Communion, will be held in McIver Chapel at 6 p.m.

Vespers services have long been a staple of the pastoral residency program, giving the residents the opportunity to conceive and plan a worship experience. Vespers will be held in lieu of adult Bible Study on the final Wednesday of each month this fall.

Inspired by the start of school, a new church year and the relaunch of the residency program itself, residents Maggie Morey and Georgia McKee say the Aug. 28 service will touch on themes of seasonal change and the rhythms of life with Ecclesiastes 3:1–9, 15 as a central text. Maggie will deliver the homily, and Associate Pastor Darren DeMent will assist with music.
