Thanks from Minister of Music Search Committee
The Minister of Music Search Committee thanks you for responding to our request for providing input. In our focus groups, we had approximately 125 participants, and 360 individuals shared their thoughts and ideas through the survey. We are excited about this response because it will help us as we move forward in the process of finding our next minister of music. We are now reviewing applications and request your continued prayers for God’s guidance.

New book includes essays by Timothy, George, others
Senior Pastor Timothy Peoples and Senior Pastor Emeritus George Mason are two of several Wilshire-connected contributors to a new book, True Colors: Stories of Baptist Inclusion. Pastoral residency alum Jake Hall edited the essay collection, which was released in June by Nurturing Faith, an imprint of Good Faith Media. Residency alums Jay Hogewood, Scott Dickison and Erica Whitaker also wrote essays, as did former Wilshire member and intern Rich Havard. The book is available from major booksellers as well as goodfaithmedia.org.

Wilshire starts sermon podcast
Sermons from Timothy Peoples and other Wilshire preachers are now available as a weekly audio podcast on all major podcast platforms. To find the podcast and subscribe, search “Wilshire Baptist Church” on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts or iHeartRadio. If you use a different podcast platform and would like to see Wilshire added, contact Mark McKenzie at mmckenzie@wilshirebc.org.

New monthly service opportunity at Wilkinson Center
Wilshire member Cindy Estee is coordinating volunteers to serve as food pantry assistants at the Wilkinson Center on the third Tuesday of each month from noon to 3:45 p.m. Wilkinson’s food pantry serves all ages in all stages: kids, single moms, fathers trying to support their families and seniors on a fixed income. Assistants greet and help clients, restock shelves and pack food boxes. Volunteers do not need to serve every month. If you are interested, contact Cindy at cesteedallas@aol.com. She will reach out monthly to confirm our team of four to six. Our first date of service is Tuesday, Aug. 15. The food pantry is located at 3402 N. Buckner Blvd.

Mason books in office
If you still don’t have your copy of George Mason’s book, you can pick it up in the church office anytime. Each Wilshire member household gets one free copy of The Word Made Fresh: Preaching God’s Love for Every Body, a collection of sermons from George’s 33 years as Wilshire’s senior pastor. Additional copies can be purchased at Amazon and other booksellers.
