Youth Choir in San Francisco this week; home concert June 25
Wilshire’s Youth Choir is in San Francisco June 17 – 24 for its annual mission tour. The choir will sing at First Presbyterian Church in Berkeley, Shell Ridge Community Church in Walnut Creek and Laguna Honda Hospital. The traveling group of 48, which includes students, leaders and chaperones, will also enjoy local attractions and serve at nonprofit agencies including San Francisco Marin Food Bank, Project Open Hand, the St. Anthony Foundation, SF City Impact and the Golden Gate Conservancy. Keep the group in your prayers — for health and safety, deep and meaningful relationships within the group and for their loving service to our neighbors in San Francisco. One fun tidbit: When the group gives a concert at Shell Ridge Community Church this afternoon, it will be joined by a member of that church, Ken Medema. The songwriter and performer is no stranger to Wilshire, having just been here April 30 for worship and the Grief and Loss Center benefit concert. The Youth Choir returns Saturday and will present its home concert at Wilshire on Sunday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m. A slideshow will be shown, and Youth Choir alumni will be invited to join the current group to sing their signature anthem, Allen Pote’s Psalm 139.

Youth Camp 2023: “All Around You”
July 3 – 8 / Ferncliff Camp
It’s not hard to see all that is wrong with the world today. It seems like everywhere we look we are faced with examples of greed, hatred, intolerance, violence and brokenness. It’s enough to get us pretty depressed if we aren’t careful. However, Christian hope calls us to not only see the world as it currently is, but to see how it can be. Our faith allows us to not only see all that is wrong, but to see all that is still good and right. The truth is: beauty, acceptance, grace, generosity and wholeness are also very present in our world today, and we have a part to play in bringing those things to bear. It might mean we have to look at the world through fresh eyes. It might mean we need to rethink some things we thought we knew. It might take some creativity. It will likely take some courage. It will definitely take all of us working together. Join us at camp as we explore how we might increase our awareness of how God is at work in the world and the ways we can join in. Camp pastors are pastoral resident alum Leigh Curl-Dove and her husband, Keith. Registration is open to Wilshire members and guests alike. Visit wilshirebc.org/registration.
